About

Hello!

You might be asking yourself...what is Plaidwagon?  What's with the name?

Well, let me explain...

For now, Plaidwagon is a side-hustle and creative outlet that allows me to get involved with the amazing Toyota Land Cruiser community. I have a background in machining, welding, fabrication and design that spans almost two decades.

Plaidwagon has been my name on IH8MUD long before I started making products.  Plaid is timeless, in my opinion.  Alwasy looks good, it's rugged and classic.  Wagons are the original SUV.  Families set out in the 1800's to seek adventure and discover a new way of life in them, and here we are trying to do the same thing in these modern times.  I had a moment of divine intervention one day when I looked at the side of my 100 series and realized that the word "Plaid" is written right there in the doors and windows.  That was all I needed to know when it came time to put a name on my ideas.

My first vehicle was a 1988 Toyota 4x4 Pickup.  From the first time I let out the clutch on that truck I've been hooked on Toyotas ever since.  When my wife and I started growing our family, we found our 3rd Gen 4runner a little small and had to graduate to the Land Cruiser level.  It was a quick connection and made me firmly believe that I had found someting special.

It brings me great joy to assemble and ship each order, knowing that every customer and I share a deep connection over these fine automobiles.

Currently I am a one man operation.  I try to offer color options and variables to suit each order, which makes it tough to keep all of them in stock.  I pretty much build everything to order with a constant cycle of production and powder coating to fulfill each order.  I have an amazing network of extremely talented friends here in Grand Junction, Colorado.  From the initial material cuts, fabrication, TIG welding, and clean powder coat finishes- I try to involve people that get the mission and are proud of their work.  I'd love to handle each step of the process on my own, but it's more important to me that when you open your parts you find the best possible products to install in your Cruisers.

As things grow, I hope to not only keep up with demand- but offer products and solutions that are original and help you all experience and enjoy your time behind the wheel.  Afterall, it's not just about how it looks in the driveway.  It's about where you go, who you meet, and the memories you make in a Land Cruiser.

So thanks for being here.  I look forward to any discussions, feedback, or ideas you might have.  But ultimately, to meeting you on the trail!
